5
Q

Why is Carbon Monoxide a risk?

A

Red blood cells absorb it, and are not resistant to it. Therefore, it cannot be prevented from entering the body, and high levels of it can cause death.

9
Q

What causes Eutrophication?

A

Plant fertilisers seeping their way through the soils into rivers, streams and lakes. It also occurs when the fertilisers are washed into rivers/lakes/streams due to heavy rainfall and flooding.

10
Q

Why is Eutrophication bad?

A

It increases the algae growth in the water because of the nitrate increase. This algae growth forms a bloom over the water surface, preventing sunlight from reaching other water plants, which subsequently die.

11
Q

What happens when the water plants die due to Eutrophication?

A

Bacteria breaks down these dead plants, and use up the oxygen in the water leaving the lake completely lifeless. This water is also unsafe for other animals and plants, and may kill them off.

13
Q

Why is deforestation also bad?

A

There is second degree damage from the combustion of the carbon from these trees.

14
Q

Why is deforestation a problem for the whole area?

A

Q

Why is deforestation a problem for animals?

A

Q

How much hotter will the planet get in 80 years if we carry on as we are?

A

6.5’C

17
Q

What can global warming cause?

A

The icecaps will melt, the gradual heat increase of the planet, and lots of flooding.
