Q
Economic globalisation:
A
- Where trade, production and consumption have become globalised.
- Many things consumed in the UK are produced and
manufactured abroad due economic globalisation. - These productions are often done through Transnational Corporations and companies that operate in multiple countries. An example of this is the company Shell.
- A result of this globalisation: a decline in manufacturing jobs over the years. This decrease is of because them have moving abroad to places such as China.
- Most UK jobs are now in the service and leisure sectors.
2
Q
increasing migration
A
- This is where more and more people are
moving around the globe, making it part
of globalisation. - People move for many reasons:
voluntary, for work/education, and
unvoluntary, refuges from places of
conflict/disaster/war. - The result of increased immigration is
the UK becoming much more multi-
cultural society than it was in the 1950s.
3
Q
technological globalisation
A
- The establishment of ICT companies like Google and Apple is a part of economic globalisation.
- These institutions are now involved in writing curriculums and providing online materials/resources to governments around the world.
- This means that education is now shaped a lot more by Transnational Companies that it was before.
- The corporations make a profit from providing this service to the government.
- example: Exams and textbooks under the exam board Edexcell would have been written by Pearson’s, a global corporation.
