(4 cards)
1
Q
Where is glycogen found?
A
Animal cells and bacteria but never plant cells
2
Q
What is it’s structure?

3
Q
Where and how is it stored?
A
Stored as small granules mainly in the muscles and the liver
4
Q
How is it’s structure suitable for storage?
A
Insoluble so doesn’t affect water potential
Large so doesn’t diffuse out of cells
Compact so a lot can be stored in small spaces
Highly branded so has more ends that can be acted on simultaneously by enzymes
