Need to be agreed between player and coach so the athlete has ownership over them

The achievements of long term goals needs careful planning to identify series of staged short and medium term goals
Goal difficulty
Difficult goals are more successful than easy goals as easy goals reduce motivation
Goal specificity
Specific goals lead to better performance
Also better evaluation of success
