8
Q

Why are they called dictyosomes?

A

In plant cell, Golgi Apparatus is present in the form of discrete units ( small packets), that’s why it is known as Golgi bodies or dictyosomes.
These are not inter connected.

16
Q

Where do secretory vesicles go?

A

To target sites
→extracellular ( outside the cell )
→intracellular ( inside the cell )

17
Q

Golgi Apparatus can be present in the form of?

A
  1. Cisternae
  2. Vesicles
  3. Tubules
18
Q

What are membranous structure with slight curvature and arranged in stack parallel to each other?

A

Cisternae

19
Q

What are tube like structures which may be branched?

A

Tubules

20
Q

What are the two types of vesicles?

A

Transition vesicles and Mature vesicles

21
Q

What are Golgion vacuoles?

A

*sac like structure
*may contain mixture of substances or amorphous substances
*may contain hydrolytic substances and are called lysosomes.

22
Q

What are the functions of Golgi Apparatus?

A
  1. Processes, modification and packaging of material recieved from ER.
  2. They secrete vesicles to the target sites inside or outside the cell.
  3. It is an important site of formation of glycoprotein and glucolipids.
  4. Helps in the formation of phragmoplast.
  5. Helps in cell division in plant cell ( cell plate method )
  6. Acrosome of sperm is modified Golgi Apparatus which helps the male gamete to penetrate inside the ovum.
  7. It also helps in yolk formation ( Vitellogenesis )
  8. Root cap cells are rich in Golgi bodies which secrete mucilage for lubrication of root tip.
  9. Formation of lysosomes.
