goniometry Flashcards

1
Q

3 parts of goniometer

A
  1. pivot (in center, align with joint at axis of rotation)
  2. static arm (fused to pivot)
  3. moving arm

A
  1. reliability is repeatable

2. validity- testing what you want to test

Q

considerations for goniometry (5)

A
  1. position
  2. comfort
  3. stabilization
  4. allotment of movement- *goniometry is not about flexibility so want to avoid shortening muscle before measurement
  5. during PROM- stabilize proximal- mobilize distal
