Shows greed and selfishness in times of poor weather conditions and an extremely poor Victorian society. He takes no moral responsibility and his human emotions are clouded by his greed.

Attitude towards the Poor

A

“If they would rather die they better do it and decrease the surplus population”, “Christmas is a poor excuse for picking a mans pocket every 25th of September” (Stave 1)

Shows greed and lack of compassion - Scrooge views the poor as disposable and clings to his money more than he does to his morals and human connection, his own disdain and misery is projected onto Christmas as this is a time where others are merry.
