What is a GSL med?
Product that is not POM, P med and is not restricted to ta pharmacy
Are GSL meds licensed products?
YES
Can they be sold without the supervision of a pharmacist?
YES- pharmacist is responsible for the training of staff and safety of the products
Examples of Meds which may be present as GSL is some forms but P/ POMin others?
Liquid paraffin- all preparations GSL except nasal & oral laxatives- P
Can Quinine be a GSL med?
Quinine base 35mg = GSL
300mg MDD = p
any other = POM
Can Cetirizine HCl tablets be a GSL?
symptomatic relief of rhinitis, urticaria in 6+ with 10mg MDD & 30 pack = GSL
Is Cetirizine HCl liquid preparation available as GSL?
YES - for symptomatic relief of rhinitis in 6+
max strength= 1mg/1ml
MDD = 10mg
max pack = 70ml
Is Beconase available as a GSL?
Hayfever nasal spray= GSL
Allergy nasal spray = P
Where can GSL meds be sold?
- Retail pharmacy
- retail shops
- Automatic machines- inside lockable buildings
Does pharmacist need to be physically present for GSL sale?
NO
GSL can only be sold in non pharmacy retail if…
- premises can be closed
- product was made fro sale in this packaging
- immediate + outer packaging has not been opened
