De la Forma -ing, cuáles son sus Funciones Principales?

El -ing puede funcionar como:

1. Verbo:
   * Be + -ing
   He had been working./ He is working.
2. Sustantivo:
   * Preposición + -ing
   He was interested in working all day.
   * Sujeto de la oración -ing (al inicio)
   Working late is stressful.
   * Derivación - Base + -ing
   John’s designings are getting better.
   * Sustantivo + verbo conjugado -ing (que funciona como adj modificando el sustantivo)
   The staircase leading down from the living room…
   Students studying late at night can be exhausting.
3. Adjetivo (describe o modifica un sustantivo)
   * Adjetivo + sustantivo
   It was an exciting game
