Subjective data: leg pain and cramps
Any leg pain (cramps)? Where? When? Aggravating factors? How long? Treatments? Wake you up at night? Any changes to exercise recently? Associated with sexual dysfunction (males) Any history of vascular, heart problems, smoking, diabetes, obesity, pregnancy, HTN, trauma, prolonged standing, or bed rest
Subjective data: skin changes on arms or legs
Any skin changes? Any change in temperature? Do your leg veins look bulging and crooked? Do you use support hose? Any leg sores or ulcers?
Subjective data: swelling in arms or legs
Swelling in arms or legs? In both or just one?
Time do day?
Constant or come and go?
What brings it on?
What relievers it?
Associated with any other symptoms? (Eg: pain, heat, redness, ulceration, hardened skin)
Subjective data: lymph node enlargement
Any swollen glands? Any lumps? How long have you had them? Any recent changes? Are they soft or hard or something else? Any pain or local infection? Anything make them better or worse?
Summary checklist: peripheral vascular examination
Inspect arms for color, size, any lesions
Palpate pulses: radial, brachia
Check epitrochlear node
inspect legs for color, size, any lesions, tropic skin changes
Palpate temperature of feet and legs
Palpate in GUI all nodes
Palpate pulses: femoral, popliteal, posterior tibial, dorsalis pedis
Touch sole of foot with micrfilament
