Lumbricals origin
Tendons of the flexor digitorum profundus. 1st: radial side of the tendon of the index finger 2nd: radial side of the tendon of the middle finger 3rd: tendons of the middle and ring fingers 4th: tendons of the ring and little fingers

Lumbricals insertion
Radial side of the extensor hood of the corresponding finger

Lumbricals nerve supply
1st and 2nd lumbricals median n. 3rd and 4th lumbricals ulnar n. C8, T1

Lumbricals function
Flexion of the MCP jts 2-5, extension of the PIP and DIP jts 2-5

Palmar interossei origin
Palmar surface of MC bones 2,4,5 1st: ulnar side of the 2nd MC bone 2nd: radial side of the 4th MC bone 3rd: radial side of the 5th MC bone

Palmar interossei insertion
1st: ulnar side of the base of the prox phalanx and the extensor hood of the 2nd digit 2nd: radial side of the base of the prox phalanx and the extensor hood of the 4th digit 3rd: radial side of the base of the prox phalanx and the extensor hood of the 5th digit

Palmar interossei nerve supply
Ulnar n. C8, T1

Palmar interossei function
Adduction and flexion of the 2nd, 4th, 5th MCP jts; extension of the PIP and DIP jts of digits 2, 4, 5

Dorsal interossei origin
By 2 heads from adjacent MC bones

Dorsal interossei insertion
1st: radial side of the proximal phalanx and the extensor hood of the 2nd digit 2nd: radial side of the proximal phalanx and the extensor hood of the 3rd digit 3rd: ulnar side of the proximal phalanx and the extensor hood of the 3rd digit 4th: ulnar side of the proximal phalanx and the extensor hood of the 4th digit

Dorsal interossei nerve supply
Ulnar n. C8, T1

Dorsal interossei function
Abduction and flexion of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th MCP jts; extension of the PIP and DIP jts of digits 2, 3, and 4

Flexor digitorum superficialis origin
Humeroulnar head: medial epi of the humerus via the common flexor tendon, the ulnar collateral ligament of the elbow; the coranoid process of the ulna Radial head: anterior surface of the radius

Flexor digitorum superficialis insertion
Via 2 slips into the sides of the middle phalanx of digits 2-5

Flexor digitorum superficialis nerve supply
Median n. C7, C8, T1

Flexor digitorum superficialis function
Flexion of the PIP jts of digits 2-5; assists in flex of the MCP jts of digits 2-5 and the wrist

Flexor digitorum profundus origin
Upper ¾ of the ulna, the coronoid process of the ulna, interosseous membrane

Flexor digitorum profundus insertion
Base of the distal phalanges of digits 2-5

Flexor digitorum profundus nerve supply
Median and ulnar n. C8, T1

Flexor digitorum profundus function
Flexion of the DIP jts of digits 2-5; assists in flexing the PIP and MCP jts of digits

Extensor digitorum origin
Lateral epicondyle of the humerus via the common extensor tendon

Extensor digitorum insertion
Middle and distal phalanges of digits 2-5 via the extensor hood or expansion

Extensor digitorum nerve supply
Deep radial n. C6-8

Extensor digitorum function
Extension of digits 2-5; assists in wrist extension
