Lesser trochanter of the femur

Unilateral action: flexion of the hip Bilateral action: with the thigh fixed, the psoas major flexes the trunk

ASIS, upper aspect of iliac notch

Sartorius insertion
Proximal aspect of medial surface of tibia

Sartorius nerve supply
Femoral n. L2-3

Sartorius function
Flexion, abduction and lateral rotation of the hip, flexion of the knee

Gluteus maximus origin
Posterior gluteal line of the ilium, ilac crest, dorsum of the sacrum and coccyx, sacrotuberous ligament

Gluteus maximus insertion
Iliotibial tract, glutueal tuberosity of the femur

Gluteus maximus nerve supply
Inferior gluteal n. L5, S1, S2

Gluteus maximus function
Extension and lateral rotation of the hip

Semitendinosus origin
Ischial tuberosity

Semitendinosus insertion
Proximal aspect of medial surface of tibia

Semitendinosus nerve supply
Tibial portion of the sciatic n. L5, S1, S2

Semitendinosus function
Extension of the hip, flexion and medial rotation of the knee

Semimembranosus origin
Ischial tuberosity

Medial condyle of the tibia
