Any activity undertaken by an individual believing himself/herself to be healthy for the purpose of preventing disease or detecting it at an asymptomatic stage

When is education effective and ineffective on health behaviour?

A

It is effective for discrete behaviour- vaccines for kids
It is ineffective for complex behaviours as it doesn’t address the reasons for poor health behaviour- needs to combined with individualised support, as well as economic, environmental and regulatory support
