what is HIV and AIDS?
HIV is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system, AIDS happens at the most advanced stage of the HIV infection
how does HIV target the body?
HIV targets the white blood cells in your body which weakens the immune system.
how does HIV make it easier to get sick? ( what kind of diseases)
it makes it easier to get tuberculosis, infections and some cancers
how does HIV spread?
HIV is spread from bodily fluids of an infected person, including blood, breast milk, semen and vaginal fluids.
how does HIV NOT spread?
HIV doesn’t spread through kissing, hugs, or sharing food.

HIV can spread through any type of unprotected sex if the person has the virus

HIV infection is caused by human immunodeficiency virus

HIV Can be transferred through sharing drug needles and syringes contaminated with infected blood

New-born babies are at risk of getting HIV from their mum if they are HIV positive, this happens from breastfeeding or birth.

lack of preventative care, advice or medication can cause the virus to develop into aids

People who are ill tend to be less productive with many working days lost through illness. ( less jobs and wealth)

less food will be produced so it will lead to starvation

children give up school to look after family members so are less educated

condoms are available for free, helping reduce the spread of HIV
