A

A law which states that physiological and menatl arousal improves performance, but only up to a certain point. If arousal becomes too high, performance begins to decline.

Q

Strengths and weaknesses of using fear arousal to promote health?

A

Strength (increased percieved susceptibility)- makes individuals feel at risk- which is key in encouraging health action (according to the HBM)

Weakness (According to the Yerkes Dodson Law) too much fear arousal can result in an unhelpful and excessive amount of anxiety, denial or avoidance.
