What is Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)?
Specialised equipment provided by employers, designed to protect individuals from specific workplace hazards.
e.g. Gloves, hardhat, High visibility clothing, steel toe cap boots

What is involved in a site induction?
Evacuation procedures

What is a Hazard?
Something that has the potential to cause harm
What is a Risk?
The likelihood and the severity of a negative occurrence (injury, ill-health, damage, loss) resulting from a hazard.
What is an Accident?
An unplanned event that results in loss
What is the main purpose of a Risk Assessment and why are they important?
Identify Health & Safety Hazards and to evaluate risks presented within the workplace.
To evaluate the effectiveness of existing control measures.
To implement additional controls where the risk is considered Medium-High.
Reduce injuries and save lives
Prevent accidents in the workplace
They generate awareness about Hazards

What is RIDDOR 2013?
Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations
The legislation requires employers who have a work premises to report and maintain records of work related incidents. This enhances safety and prevents future occurrences.
What is the purpose of CDM 2015?
CDM was designed to ensure health and safety throughout all stages of construction projects, including planning, design, and execution
When do you need to Notify HSE on a Construction Project?
When project lasts longer than 30 days with more than 20 workers working simultaneously at any one point, or involving more than 500 person days of construction work.
What is a Construction Phase Plan?
CPP details the health and safety arrangements, site rules, and specific measures taken on a construction project, and control measures to minimize or eliminate these risks.
