A

Age of Consent is 16 (Gr 10)
It had previously been 14 years of age until 2008 but the federal government decided to increase the age of consent due to increasingly troubling trends in high schools
The age of consent allows a person to make responsible decisions about their bodies without being considered a child, but this age limit does come with restrictions that protected the person from possible exploitation

The other exception allows for another “Close-in-Age” situation, but this exception only applies to 12 or 13 years old individuals

  • There are over 100 variations of HPV that exist in the world, some of which can lead to serious medical conditions
  • For females, HPV is the leading cause of Cervical Cancer
  • For males, HPV doesn’t really raise the risk of serious diseases, but it could cause Genital Warts
  • Almost everyone who has engaged in sexual relations will have contracted HPV, but not all HPV variations can cause serious infections

  • Left untreated HIV can develop into Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome(AIDS), which can lead to a compromised immune system
  • Most people who die from AIDS usually die from simple infections like a cold or flu that the body was unable to fight off

- Condoms are probably the most popular form of protection against Pregnancy and Sexually-Transmitted Infections and Diseases - Modern condoms are mainly made from Latex Rubber due to its durability and flexibility - Traditional condoms were often made from animal products such as sheep intestines or from linen cloth - As a contraception, it is often touted as being 98% effective against accidental pregnancies The 2% failure rate stems from improper storage or improper use by the user

- The use of Birth control pills has grown since the 1960s, and is a very popular form of contraception for women - Birth control pills interfere with the normal hormone patterns of women, which tricks the body to prevent pregnancies - The pills are taken everyday over a 28 day cycle, which is the normal menstrual cycle of women - The use of the pills prevents ovaries from releasing eggs, which basically prevents the chance of pregnancy Birth control pills have a 99% effectiveness against pregnancy, but they provide no protection against STDs

Once a person turns 18 years old, the person is deemed to be legally an adult and can choose to engage in sexual relations with other adults who are 18 years old+ For 16 and 17 years old people, they can have sexual relations with indivisuals who are 18+ years old , but there are strict rules that need to be adhered to
