Cocaine and the human body
Cocaine is a stimulant that can cross the blood-brain barrier within seconds
Produce greater alertness for the users due to it’s stimulant properties
Cocaine can constrict blood vessels, increase heart rates, and increase blood pressure
interfere with dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain, creating a euphoric experience that can be addictive
Which major league baseball pitcher threw a No-Hitter on LSD?
Dock Ellis of the Pittsburgh Pirates threw a no-hitter on June 12, 1970

It was thought to help said patients experiencing mental disorders when it was synthesized in the 1940s by Albert Hofman
It soon became a recreational drug that became popular with the 1960s and psychedelic Culture that looked at distorting reality
LSD Effects on Body
LSD binds with serotonin and dopamine receptors in the Brain, which causes a distortion of sensory information from the Body
may experience episodes of Euphoria or episodes of Anxiety and Paranoia based on how the Brain interprets sensory information
LSD will often cause Profuse Sweating, Increased Body Temperature, and Higher Blood Pressure and Heart Rate
What plant is Heroin derived from?
The Opium Poppy plant is the main source of Opiates such as Heroin
Heroin making
The main ingredient from Opium Poppies is technically a latex, (rubber is a latex)
Opium farmer would score the seed to allow the opium latex to ooze out, which would be captured
The latex would be processed onto cakes which allows morphine to congeal near the top, while rest of the cake is waste
Cocaine intake
The powdered cocaine can be snorted through the nose, absorbed through the skin, inhaled into the lungs, or into veins
Heroin and the Body
Morphine acts directly on the body’s Central Nervous System to control the body’s reaction to Pain
Heroin is a highly refined and concentrated version of Morphine
Heroin Effects on the body
creates a strong euphoric sensation that is highly addictive
The injection of Heroin can promote a collapse of the vein at the injection site due to the acidity
Sensation of itchy skin if the heroin pools underneath the skin
Increase the temperature of the body, which can lower the heart rate and breathing of the person
The lowered heart rate will decrease the sensation from the extremities of the body
The decreased breathing can lead to Respiratory Collapse where the Lungs are no longer responsive to signals from the Brain
Vomiting can often(the person drowns in their vomit)
Heroin intake
Heroin is typically administered through intravenous needles into the bloodstream, but it can also be smoked or snorted through the nose
Cocaine dosage
The general lethal dose ratio for cocaine is 95mg per kg of body weight
Ex. person weighing 100lbs (45kg) would overdose on 4.3(1 teaspoon) grams of cocaine
Cocaine early uses
dental surgeries(novacaine) and tonic remedies(dr. Pemberton of coca cola)
Morphine
Morphine is the main ingredient in Heroin
Morphine is legal when used medically
The powered version of cocaine is
cocaine hydrochloride
It is created by soaking coca leaves in gasoline or other solvents to help break down the leaves and reduce it into an odorless, but bitter-tasting powder
