Heartbeay and Blood Pressure Flashcards
(7 cards)
1
Q
Heart sounds
A
sounds comes from valves closing
2
Q
Lub
A
closing of AV valves, when ventricles contract (systole sound)
3
Q
Dub
A
snapping shut of the semilunar valves when ventricles relax (diastole sound)
4
Q
Murmur
A
caused by small amounts of blood backwashing into atrium; AV valves have not closed properly
5
Q
Blood pressure
A
- measures force of the blood in circulatory vessels of body
- blood pressure measured using a sphygmomanometer
-120/80 mmHg (normal blood pressure) - if BP too high, vessels can burst
- if BP too low, slow diffusion, lack of nutrition
6
Q
5 Factors influence blood pressure
A
- Elasticity of artery (hardening of arteries = high BP. Opposite is low blood pressure)
- Diameter of Artery (wider artery = lower pressure)
- Viscosity of blood (thicker the blood)
- Heart rate (heart rate increases BP increases)
- Volume of blood (dramatic change, like loss of blood, can decrease pressure. Opposite for too much blood)
7
Q
BP sensors
A
- Baroreceptors
- Chemoreceptors
- Osmoreceptors
