Q

Blood pressure

A
  • measures force of the blood in circulatory vessels of body
  • blood pressure measured using a sphygmomanometer
    -120/80 mmHg (normal blood pressure)
  • if BP too high, vessels can burst
  • if BP too low, slow diffusion, lack of nutrition

Q

5 Factors influence blood pressure

A
  1. Elasticity of artery (hardening of arteries = high BP. Opposite is low blood pressure)
  2. Diameter of Artery (wider artery = lower pressure)
  3. Viscosity of blood (thicker the blood)
  4. Heart rate (heart rate increases BP increases)
  5. Volume of blood (dramatic change, like loss of blood, can decrease pressure. Opposite for too much blood)
