why was henry VIII personally upset with the Catholic church?
The pope Clement VII denied him a divorce with Catherine of Aragon due to the fact that he was good friends with Catherine’s cousin
what religion did henry replace Catholicism with?
protestantism
what was a Tithe?
a tax by the church for being on their land making people pay 1/10 of all their harvest/resources/goods from a year to the church as donations or taxes.
why where the english people angry at the catholics?
any of these are fine
A: the catholic priests, bishops, and monks where disregarding their own laws and duties, (eg sleeping with recently divorced women)
B: The church charged a Tithe to be on their land and imposed their own laws which mainly where heavy fines as they hoarded money
C: The church had services in Latin, a language that the common englishmen didn’t understand,
and they started extorting the community with false promise’s that they would get to heaven faster.
what where the main jobs of monasteries?
to help the sick, welcome travellers, learn the bible, write scriptures, help the poor and the needy with donations ect, and be closer to god.
what where some pros of the dissolution of monasteries and nunneries?
A: The monks and nuns hoarded money, took a lot of “charity money” for themselves and broke their laws, and upset the local community, so getting rid of them would relieve the community of the taxes, abuse and stress
B: the services they offered had been dimmed a lot due to the fact that they where now focusing on isolation and their own personal benefits,
C: Many monks and nuns were not there on their own accord anymore, most consisted of troublemakers and teenagers that upset their parents, monasteries and nunneries became more like behaviour camp

what where some of the cons of the dissolution of the monasteries and nunneries?
A: monasteries provided help, donations, and charity work to the local communities in some areas.
B: many people like travellers relied on monasteries and nunneries for shelter and a resting spot, and others to learn to read and write or just be taught in general.
C: so many communities relied on monasteries and nunneries to help their daily lives and it helped set up markets, gatherings, and solve arguments.
