Hodgkins Lymphoma Flashcards
(24 cards)
What is Hodgkin’s lymphoma?
- Bimodal age distribution
- Single axial lymph node involvement
- Contiguous spread
- Mesentric and waldeyers ring rarely involved
- Rare extranodal involvement
What are the types of Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL)?
Nodular Sclerosis, Lacunar variant, Mixed cellularity, lymphocyte rich, lymphocyte depleted and lymphocyte predominant (non classical HL)
What is the most common type of HL?
Nodular Sclerosis.
What is the gender distribution across different HL?
m: F (male to female ratio is equal) in Nodular sclerosis
M>F in all others
What is the typical age range for HL patients?
Adolescent and young adult in NS and NHPL, rest elderly
What are the markers associated with Reed-Sternberg (RS) cells?
CD 15, CD 30, EBV (Epstein Barr Virus).
What type of HL is most common in India?
Mixed cellularity.
What is the age distribution for biphasic HL?
Young adults as well as >55 years.
What cells are present in biphasic HL?
Eosinophils and plasma cells and have maximum number of RS cells
Which HL has the worst prognosis?
Lymphocyte depleted
What is the staging system used for HL?
Ann Arbor staging.
What is the RX regimen for HL?
ABVD regimen: Adriamycin, Bleomycin, Vincristin, Dacarbazine
What is Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL)?
A type of lymphoma that includes
1. Occurs in elderly
2. Mostly involves multiple peripheral lymph nodes
3. Non contiguous spread
4. Mesentric and waldeyers ring commonly involved
5. Extranodal involvement is common
Which subtypes of HL is not associated with EBV?
Nodular sclerosis and Lymphocyte Predominant.
What is the gender distribution for Non-Classical HL?
m > F (more common in males).
Which HL is associated with HIV?
Lymphocyte depleted
What is the typical age for Lymphocyte Depleted subtype?
Old age.
What is the typical demographic for Lymphocyte Rich subtype?
Old males
What are the characteristics of the mononuclear variant of RS
Seen in lymphocyte rich
What are the markers for Lymphocyte Rich subtype?
CD 15, CD 30.
What is the prognosis for Lymphocyte Rich subtype?
Good to excellent.
What is the prognosis for Lymphocyte Depleted subtype?
Poor.
Lacunar Reed sternberg are seen in?
Nodular sclerosis
Popcorn RS cells are seen in?
Lymphocyte predominant
