Q

How are the optimum conditions controlled in homeostasis?

A

Automatic control centres in the body

These may involve a nervous response or a chemical (ie hormonal) response

Q

How do the control centres work in homeostasis?

A
  1. Cells called receptors detect changes called stimuli
  2. Receptors send signals to a coordination centre (brain, spinal cord, pancreas)
  3. A response brought about by a muscle or a gland (effectors)
  4. Optimum conditions are restored
