How Was The periodic table found? Flashcards
(10 cards)
Who started the development of the periodic table?
Dimitri Mendeleev
How did Dmitri Mendeleev develop the periodic table?
Mendeleev realized that the physical and chemical properties of elements were related to their atomic mass in a ‘periodic’ way, and arranged them so that groups of elements with similar properties fell into vertical columns in his table.
What element is named after Dmitri Mendeleev?
Mendelevium
What group is the most reactive group
in the periodic table?
Group 1 elements the the alkali metals
What elements did Dmitri Mendeleev not find?
Dmitri Mendeleev did not find gallium, germanium and scandium.
How many elements did Dmitri Mendeleev discover?
Dmitri Mendeleev discovered 63 elements
What elements are named after places?
There’s: polonium- Poland francium- France nihonium- Japan germanium - Germany

Why are some elements named after a place?
Sometimes elements are named after a place because that element might have been found there or manafactured there
How many elements are in the periodic table?
There are 92 natural elements that exist
