Human body Flashcards
(8 cards)
Differentiation
Cells acquire the structures and functions of a specialized cell
4 types of tissue
Muscular tissue - muscle
Connective tissue - ligaments
Epithelial tissue - protective tissue:
skin and muscle lining
Nerve - transmits electrical signals
Nerve sensors
Gathers information about body
Nerve communication center
Messages sent through body to respond to stimuli
Nerve Control Center
Receives information from sensors and interprets it
Nerve targets
Body part that changes its activity due to interpretation and instructions from control center
Types of neurons
1) sensory - detects stimuli in environment and transmits to brain
2) inter neuron - located in brain, receives signals from sensory neurons
3) motor - pass signals to other tissues, nerves attached to muscle, muscle reacts
Determination in stem cells
Genes program stem cell to become specific cell
