A
Tonsillitis is the inflammation of the tonsils, usually caused by viral or bacterial infections. Common symptoms of tonsillitis include:
- Sore throat
- Swollen tonsils
- Difficulty swallowing
- Fever
- Bad breath
- Ear pain
Tonsillitis can be acute (short-term) or chronic (recurring). Treatment may involve rest, hydration, pain relief, and sometimes antibiotics for bacterial infections. In severe or recurrent cases, a tonsillectomy (surgical removal of the tonsils) may be recommended.
