hypersensitivity autoimmunity Flashcards
(21 cards)
what is the antibody in type 1 hypersensitivity
IgE
what is the action of type 1 hypersensitivity
Immediate hypersensitivity diseases are initiated by the introduction of an allergen, which stimulates TH2 reactions and IgE production. IgE sensitizes mast cells by binding to FcεRI , and subsequent exposure to the allergen activates the mast cells to secrete the mediators that are responsible for the pathologic reactions of immediate hypersensitivity.
type 1 “immediate” recation
mast cell activation
igE mediated effects and vasodialtion
type 1 “late” reaction
Eosinophil, neutrophil and T cell infiltrates
what are the examples of autoimmune disease
systemic and organ specific
systeic autoimmune disease
Autoimmune process is diffuse is spread throughout the body
Affects more than one organ - not necessarily the same ones in different individuals
organ specific autoimmne disease
Autoimmune process directed against one organ
Type 1 Diabetes - pancreas
Autoimmune Thyroiditis
Systemic lupus erythematosus
Relapsing and remitting chronic
systemic disease
Primarily affects women in
20’s - 60’s
define Hypersensitivity responses
damaging responses produced during normal immune responses
describe autoimmune disease
- a failure or breakdown of immune system that maintains tolerance to self tissues
Loss of tolerance is probably due to abnormal selection or lack of control of
self-reactive lymphocytes (B and T-cells)
what is an autoimmune disease
a failure or breakdown of immune system that maintains tolerance to self tissues
what are the 4 catogories of hypersensitivity responses
1, 2, 3 and 4
which hypsensistivity are antibody mediated?
1, 2 and 3
which hypersensitivity is T cell mediated
4
what would cuase a hypersensitive response catorgory 1? abd what is the antibody and what does it connect to?
allergy
IgE solubl antigen (water soluble)
what antibody is type 2? and what does it connect 2?
and what is it used for?
IgG
cell or matrix antigen
`atp
rheumatic
fever
what are antibodies for type 4
and what are they used for?
Th1 and th2 and cytotoxic (CTL)
diabetes, MS
when do you get immediate release?
when the antibody cross liked with the antigen
what are the type of effects of the immediate reactions?
vasodialtion, vascular leak, broncho- constriction, intestinal hypermotility, inflammation, tissue damage
what is atopy
predisposition to developing allergies
