What is the mx of a hypertensive crisis?

A

True emergency with monitoring of intra-arterial BP: nitroprusside and beta blocker

IV GTN- less invasive monitoring

PO- long acting CCB e.g. MR nifedipine (avoid sublingual/buccal), amlodipine

Reduce by 15-25% in first hour
