Where can you find the Emergency Guide (Basic Game Plan)
IFG 2-39
General Loss COMM Procedures (IFG 2-32)
If able recover VFR to the most suitable airfield. Refer to FLIP FIH for additional guidance.
A. Check different frequencies
B. Attempt contact with the controlling agency (ON GUARD - 243.00 OR 121.5)
C. Squawk CODE 7600
D. Pull and reset VHF RADIO C/B in attempt to regain VHF GUARD
E. Consider using the EMERGENCY UHF Radio from the survival kit
Local VMC Loss COMM Procedures (IFG 3-32)
A. Attempt to Avoid Active Areas
B. Maintain VFR below 10,000’ MSL
C. Proceed to JACOX/WAYNO then to 12 DME arc. Arc to a 12 DME final for a straight-in to ctr/outside runway. Remain outside 10 DME until on final
Local IMC Loss COMM Procedures (IFG 3-32)
A. Inside of 30 DME
1. Intercept the 15 DME ARC on final for the landing runway and execute a published approach
2. On base/final, remain at last assigned altitude until established on segment of approach
B. Outside of 30 DME
1. Proceed to CHEEK/HARMS at FL240, descend in holding and execute the published approach for the landing runway
Light Gun Signals: Ground/Inflight (IFG 3-31)
- Steady Green -
- Flashing Green -
- Steady Red -
- Flashing Red -
- Flashing White -
- Alternating Red and Green -
- Cleared for T/O/Cleared to Land
- Cleared for Taxi/Return for Landing
- Stop/Give way to other Aircraft, Continue Circle
- Taxi Clear of Runway in Use/Airport Unsafe to Land
- Return to Start Point on Airport
- General Warning Signal, Exercise Extreme Caution
Aborts Procedures (IFG 3-29)
- Taxi aborts should contact ground control for instructions
- NORDO Taxi: If number one for the active, turn the plane to face toward the Tower and flash your LDG/Taxi lights. Monitor the tower for light signals, then proceed down the runway and return to the parking area
Hot Brakes (IFG 3-29)
If you suspect hot brakes, notify the Tower. Proceed to the hot brake area. Stop with the aircraft facing into the wind. If you suspect a blow tire stop on the runway. Refer to the brake Energy Limits in -1. Hammerheads are considered hot brake areas.
Near Mid-Air Collision (IFG 3-29)
- Call the controlling agency immediately with
a. Time
b. Altitude/Hading
c. Location
d. Type of A/C involved
e. Announce your intentions to file a HATR - After landing, report details to the SOF, SUP, and 71 FTW/SE. If landing at another military field, notify the local Safety Office
Emergency Procedures Declaration (IFG 3-28)
Notify Controlling Agency and SOF of: A. Type aircraft, call sign, and tail number B. Nature of emergency C. Intentions D. Position, heading, altitude E. Estimated time to landing F. Number of personnel on board G. Fuel remaining in pounds and minutes
