It’s irregular.

You don’t use the “nous” form of your verb. Instead you use the stem: “ét”.

l’imparfait with verbs ending in “ger”

(nager, manger, placer)

If the conjugated stem begins with “a” or “o”,

A

A cédille is added to the stem BEFORE endings starting with “a”, or “o” to keep the soft “c” sound.

Example - a ç for “je commenÇAis”, but no ç for “nous commenCIons”
