What is the incarnation?
The christian belief that God came to earth in human form as Jesus

Jesus experienced the stresses of being human (good, bad, love, anger etc)
What is the annunciation?
The annunciation is the announcement to Mary that she will be the mother of Jesus (son of God)
What are 2 similarities between Mary and Joseph’s accounts of the annunciation?
- Both experiences involve an angel coming to talk to them
- Both are told that the baby will be conceived by the holy spirit
- Mary is a virgin in both accounts

- Statues and artworks give people something to focus on whilst praying
- Religious art can help us too visualise catholic teachings, making them easier to understandn
What are 2 reasons as to why christians SHOULD NOT use religious art?
- It is not possible to portray God, so artworks that portray him can be misunderstanding and some people believe it is disrespectful
- When praying in-front of a statue, some people may misunderstand and think the statue itself is being worshipped (this would go against one of the 10 commandments, which states to not worship idols)
