Ethnic Enclaves
Immigrants settled in diverse towns, facing language and religious barriers together. An area in a city where different cultures lived separately from other groups. For example, Little Italy in NYC, Chicago’s West Side, and Chinese Influence in San Francisco.
Industrialization
The process of everyday goods changing because things went from being hand crafted by artisans to being mass produced in factories. Industrialization changed population, diversity, creation, and new inventions.
Settlement Housing
Started in the UK in the 1800s to help the poor. In the US, these houses provided shelter, helped people become Americanized, and helped people enter the work force. The first Settlement House was made in New York, with 400 following it across the US.

An inexpensive way to make steel, pour molten iron into a container and blasting with air

Prohibited Chinese Immigration into the US for 10 years
