If you multiply/divide both sides by a negative you MUST flip the sign.

Unless you know the sign of the variable avoid manipulating it…

Q

Solving… IQ + ABS

A

Same rules. Positive and negative symbol that is an upside down T with a line through it… you will be given two equations that give you a range of answers

Q

When combining IQ with ABS and you have overlapping number lines, what does that reveal about your solution?

A

It will ONLY be within the range of the overlap. You can combine the two equations into one IQ

y > -8
Y < 2
-8 < y < 2 is the final solution

Q

An IQ could be graphed,

How would X > 0 look?

A

Quadrants 1 and 4 would be shaded. Anything to the left of the Y axis is excluded
