Enteroviruses

What are the features of Enteric fever?
S. typi and paratyphi
- abdo pain
- Relative bradycardia
- Constipation - more common in parathyphi
- Rose spots

swimmers’ itch
acute schistosomiasis syndrome (Katayama fever)
* fever
* urticaria/angioedema
* arthralgia/myalgia
* cough
* diarrhoea
* eosinophilia
What malignancy is associated with Schistosomiasis?
Schistosoma haematobium is a risk factor for squamous cell bladder cancer
What is the treatment of Schistosomiasis?
Praziquantel

Pegylated interferon alpha
What is LGV?
Caused by Chlamydia trochamitis
What are the features of LGV?
- Painless pustule –> ulcer
- painful inguinal lymphadenopathy
- protocolitis
What is the treatment for LGV?
Doxycycline
