- avoid toys with strings or pull-cords longer than 20cm, baby necklaces, stringed bibs
- follow crib standards, tight fitting mattress
- be attentive when visitors around
- curtain cords out of reach
- stay at arms reach during mealtimes
- avoid drawstrings and scarves
- store older children’s toys in separate, inaccessible location
- tie plastic bags before storing, out of sight and reach
- Do not use latex balloons
- make sure toy box is safe and has air holes
- do not allow children to tie skipping ropes, pet leashes etc to trees/decks
- encourage table manners
