What is business ethics?
the study of business situations, activities and decisions where issues of right and wrong are addressed
What issues are involved in business ethics?
issues that are covered by ethics but not law, such as testing on animals or other ethical issues a business may face
What is morality definition?
is concerned with the norms, values and belief embedded in social processes which define right and wrong for an individual or a community
What is the definition of ethics?
is concerned with the study of morality and the application of reason to elucidate specific rules and principles that determine right and wrong for any given situation - ethical theories.
What are normative ethical theories?
propose to prescribe the morally correct way of acting, how we should act
What are descriptive ethical theories?
seek to describe how ethics decisions are actually made in practice
What is ethical absolutism?
eternal, universally applicable moral principles. Right and wrong are objective qualities, can be rationally determined. Typically traditional ethical theories
What is ethical relativism?
morality is context dependent and subjective. No universe rights or wrong. Typically more contemporary ethical theories
What are the sources of rules and principles?
Religion involves deities or organised systems of belief as the origin of norms. Philosophy stems from belief in human reasons to derive norms
What are the consequences of morality?
Philosophy sees consequences as a matter of creating tangible social benefits or harms for others. Religions are point to spiritual consequences including enlightenment, reincarnation, domination and salvation.
What are the different emphasises when making ethical decisions?
