Chrestus or Christus was behind all the trouble, his origins lay in one of the more obscure and backwards parts of the Roman Empire

It soon became clear that this new Religon might have the potential to cause real trouble. The Great fire which swept through Rome at the time of Nero in 64AD was conveniently blamed on this new religious group, nobody liked them much and they were an obvious scapegoat for the failings of the Roman Authorities to deal with the fire and its aftermath

Christus or Christians was seen as something of a minor irritation, at worse it was seen as a threat to the cult of Emperor worship, yet less than 300 years later, this new Religon had become the official Religion of the Roman Empire, where once Roman historians dated events from the founding of Rome, those events would now be dated from the coming of Christ.

The study of Christianity is one of the most fascinating, stimulating and intellectually and spiritually rewarding undertakings available to anyone
