Introduction - What to cover off?

A
  • Build rapport
  • Describe the purpose and format of the meeting - using the agenda
  • Ask how they are for time? Meeting should take 1 to 1.5 hours
  • Reiterate that it’s just a chat - no decisions need to be made
  • Be mindful of vulnerabilities

Contracting - what to cover off?

A
  • Explain that everything and anything discussed is entirely confidential, and that they can stop the meeting at any point if they feel uncomfortable
  • Encourage client to ask questions or challenge me on points, and expect me to press harder on areas that I feel are important to understand fully.
  • Ask permission to take notes to help improve understanding and provide suitable advice

  • Ask what would be the best possible outcome for the meeting today? Or, what are they hoping to achieve by the end of the meeting.
  • Ask what kind of working relationship they’d like to have
