Why are Louise and Ben so dangerous for Elliot?
Louise and Ben bring out the old Elliot, the one at the first school, before the accident. That is dangerous, because, Elliot will get comfortable with that mask, and he could accidentally listen to it when he is with the Guardians. Richard would discover that Elliot isn’t who he says he is, and will punish him, because he would have been vulnerable.

The main conflict in this story is main versus self. Elliot doesn’t know which voice to listen to, which mask to wear, permanently. He is confused about who he is, or who he should be.
