A

Son of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra. Ordered by Apollo to kill his mother in Choephorai. Afterwards, the Erinyes haunt him until the Athenian trial finds him not guilty

God of clarity, moderation, light, proportion, and justice. Orders Orestes to kill Clytemnestra for killing Agamemnon. Defends him at the Athenian trial in Eumenides

What the Erinyes are transformed into. Means the kindly minded ones. They are chthonic divinities since they return to the earth

Son of Labdacus. King of Thebes. Had a very sharp temper, which he passed to his son Oedipus. A prophecy told that his son would kill him and sleep with his wife, Jocasta, so they pinned his feet and ordered a shepherd to expose him. Oedipus later kills him and four of his five servants on the way to Thebes when he demands the entire road

Antigone
Daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta. Sister to Ismene, Etiocles, and Polynices. Takes care of Oedipus as an exile. Promises to make sure Polynices gets his burial rites when Oedipus refuses to bless him. Buries him twice under the threat of execution by Creon. Put to death by entombment, but hangs herself first. Fiancee to Haemon

Etiocles
Son of Oedipus and Jocasta. Brother to Antigone, Etiocles, and Polynices. Wars with Polynices for power over Thebes until the two kill each other on the walls. He dies defending Thebes, so he gets full burial rites

Colonus
Where Oedipus, Ismene, and Antigone take shelter. At first, the townspeople reject them. Then, Theseus orders them to give sanctuary. Oedipus lives out the rest of his days there until he disappears. He tells them that their problems can be solved with love

A very wise blind prophet who tells Oedipus that he is the cause of the miasma in Thebes. Oedipus sends him away. Lived half of his wife as a woman

Goddess of common sense, practical knowledge, etc. Daughter of Zeus and Metis, but born from his head. Presides over Orestes' jury. Casts her vote for him since she did not have a mother. Convinces the Erinyes to become Eumenides

Stood outside Thebes asking riddles and strangling people for wrong answers. Asked Oedipus the multi-legged riddle. Kills herself when he answers a human. Her death leads to his coronation

Son of Laius and Jocasta, who tried to expose him. Name means swollen foot. Thought he was the son of Polybus and Merope. Had a temper. Killed Laius, married Jocasta. Had Polynices, Etiocles, Ismene, and Antigone with her. Discovered he was the source of Thebes' miasma. Blinded and exiled himself. Told the solution to troubles is love.

Ismene
Daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta. Joins him and Antigone during his exile. Refuses to help Antigone bury Polynices since it wouldn't be right for her to disobey Creon, the king

Corinth
Where Polybus and Merope ruled and raise Oedipus. He leaves when he finds out about his prophecy

Creon
Takes over Thebes after Polynices and Etiocles kill each other. Forbids Polynices from receiving a burial. Puts Antigone to death for doing so. Realizes his mistake as his son, Haemon, hands himself.

Orestes' closest friend. Comes to the palace with him. Provides him with encouragement when he hesitates to kill Clytemnestra
