Ion- /K channels Flashcards
(11 cards)
What is the structure of an ATP-sensitive K channel?
It is an octamer:
4 x Kir 6.2 = pore forming K channel
4 x SUR = sulfonyl urea receptor
consisting of: ->3 x TMD= transmembrane domain
->2 x NBD= nucleotide binding domain
What is the throughput rate?
the rate of production or the rate at which something can be processed.
I =1.6 x 10^8 ion/s
On which side of the membrane does the K channel work?
Intracellular
List some K channel openers
Diaoxide
Pinacidill
cromahalim
minoxidil
List some sulfonyl urea inhibitors.
- Sulfonyl urea inhibits the ATP-sensitive K channel

Pancreatic B cells
Kir 6.2 + SUR 2.A location
myocytes, skeletal muscle.
Kir 6.1 + SUR 2.B location
vascular SM
used in hypertension because they decrease the vascular tone
Clc-1 location
skeletal muscle
stabilizes resting membrane potential
Clc-5 location
Kidney prox. tube
Cl- transport
Clc-Ka Clc-Kb location
Kidney TAL
Cl- reabsorption
