Q

The process in which an ionic bond is made.

A
  1. The metal loses its electrons to become a positive ion and obtain a full shell.
  2. These electrons get transferred to the non-metal where it gains the electron and becomes a negative ion with a stable outer shell.
  3. These oppositely charged ions attract with strong electrostatic forces of attraction, holding them together with tight bonds.

This makes them an ionic compound with an ionic bond
