Q

What does fasting mean and why do Muslims fast?

A

Fasting means abstaining from drinking or eating from sunrise to sunset. We fast for 29-30 days of Ramadan. We do this to empathise with those with those who are less fortunate than us. It also helps us to be nearer to God. You generally start to fast when you are 11-12 years old.Suhoor / sehri are the meals that are served before sunrise and iftar is the meal that is served after sunset.
