James Monroe was the last Founding father president, and the last president to serve in the Continental army during the Revolutionary war.

What is the Monroe Doctrine?
A
The Monroe doctrine states that no further colonization by any European power is allowed. If there were any further acts of colonization they would be seen as aggression, that would require U.S. intervention. The doctrine was signed in 1823.
