A

king ruled, gave land to nobles who gave service and loyalty - raised army when needed.

A

1 John agreed to sign to avoid civil war but went back on his word, was only a relationship between barons and king so limited impact, barons must have thought it useful as reinstated it 9 years later

A

How did it come about

A

barons fed up with John’s poor kinship so formed an army to fight him. He had no army so he met with them on 1st June Runnymede 1215. They gave him their demands to sign.
