1850 BCE

He had a revelation from god telling him to go to a promised land and he would father of a great nation
The land he was promised was called canaan

It was that if people wold worship one god in return god would take care of them

They are monotheistic
This belief is summed up in the words of SHEMA:”hear o iseral the lord our god is one
Another belief is Jews believe in the covenant or agreement between the people and god

Jews believe in and follow the Ten Commandments
Jews believe in TORAH -law or instruction - which was given to them from god through moses
What is the TANAKH
It is the stories of Judaism or the Jewish sacred writings
It is divided into three parts
What are the three parts of the TANAKH
The torah or law first 5 books of the TANAKH
The NEVIIM or prophets
the KETUVIM or writings that include the proverbs and psalms
What is Hebrew
It is the language of ancient Judaism
Hebrew text is read from left to right
What is MITZVAH
It’s a unit of law
It means commandment or good deed there are 613 mitzvot in n the Torah
