When do you need to manage hyperkalaemia?
Over 6.5 or ECG changes
What is the treatment for hyperkalaemia?
- 10ml of 10% Calcium Gluconate (slow injection over 2mins)
- 10 units insulin with 50ml 50% glucose over 5-15 mins (repeat if neccessary)
- Can give salbutamol neb (careful in those with CVD)
Stop any precipitating drugs
