What is a Business?
An organisation that provides goods and services that meet the needs and wants of customers.
What are Producer goods?
Goods sold to other businesses that use them to make other products.
What are Consumer goods?
Goods that are ultimately purchased and used by the final consumer.
What is a non-durable good?
A physical product that can only be used once (e.g. a match).
What is a durable good?
A physical product that is intended to be used more than once and lasts a long time (e.g. a mobile phone).
What is a Service?
A non-physical product.
What are Personal services?
Services targeted at consumers rather than businesses.
What are Commercial services?
Services targeted at businesses rather than consumers.
Who is a Customer?
A person or organisation that buys products from businesses.
What is a Final consumer?
The customer that ultimately consumes a good or service.
What is a Supplier?
A business that sells goods and services to other businesses.
What is an Economy?
The combination of individuals, businesses and government organisations that make decisions about production and consumption in a country or region.
What is a Sector?
Part of a nation’s economy containing organisations with similar characteristics.
What is the Public sector?
The part of an economy containing organisations that are owned by national or local government.
What is the Private sector?
The part of an economy containing organisations that are owned by individuals or businesses.
What is a Resource?
Something that is useful for completing a task.
What is Raw material?
A natural resource used in production.
What is Equipment?
Tools and devices used to complete a task.
What are Machines?
Apparatus that uses mechanical power to complete a task.
What is Labour / workers?
People that are employed to complete tasks.
What is a Site?
The particular piece of land within a geographical area where the business operates.
What is an Enterprise?
Another word for a business.
Who is an Entrepreneur?
Someone who is willing to take the risks involved in setting up a business.
What are the Roles of an entrepreneur?
Identifying opportunities, organising resources, using initiative.
