What is a place?
A portion of geographical space with a distinctive identity that has meaning to people.
What is a space
A portion of geographical space without social connections for people (i.e. No identity)
What are endogenous factors?
A place’s internal characteristics (e.g. Physical features, cultural landscape, economic functions, demographic etc)
What are exogenous factors, and what has increased these factors’ influence?
A place’s external factors that shape it (e.g. connections to other places or flows of people, resources, money and ideas)
- Exogenous factors have seen a rise due to the increase in globalisation.
