Kinetics Flashcards
(31 cards)
Why are kinetics usefu;?
Explains the underlying cause of the movement pattern of technique
Provides explanation of the musculoskeletal demand movement
What is static?
Body/object is stable
What is dynamic?
Body/object is in motion
What is a force?
Pushing or pulling action the body has
What is force measured in?
Newtons (N)
What is net force?
The resultant of all forces affecting
When is the body in equilibrium?
During static condition
When does equilibrium exist?
The net force on the body is 0
The resultant force acting on the body is 0
What is an internal force?
Force from inside
Ie. Muscle force
What is an external force?
Force from outside the body
ie. Ground reacting on the body forces
What are the 3 characteristics of a force?
- Direction
- Magnitude
- Point of application
What is mass?
Amount of matter in the body
Measure of the inertia of the body
What is inertia?
The resistance of a body to change in motion
If the inertia of the body is large is it more or less force to create the same motion?
More
What is weight?
the gravitational force attracting a body towards the earth
How is weight worked out?
W=MXG
Mass x Gravity
What is the value of gravity?
9.81
What is newtons 1st law of inertia?
Body will remain stable unless reacted upon by external or internal force.
Gymnast will stay in handstand unless reacted on by a force.
What is newtons 2nd law of acceleration?
The rate of change in momentum will happen if a force acts upon it, in the direction the force is applied.
If a ball is kicked it will accelerate away from the foot
What equation is associated with newtons law of acceleration?
F=MXA
Force = mass x acceleration
What is newtons 3rd law of action reaction?
Forces always occur in pairs.
For each force applied their is a second body applying force back.
Ie. floor provides force against the body
What is momentum?
The quantity of motion
Linear or angular form
How is linear momentum worked out?
Mass x Linear velocity
What is impulse?
The product of force and the time over which the force is applied
