A
  • Upper posterior medial surface of tibia
21
Q

What does the Popliteus do?

A
  • Knee Flexion
  • Knee Internal Rotation
  • unlocks extended Knee
22
Q

What is the origin of the gastrocnemius?

A
  • Posterior Medial Femoral Condyle (Medial head)
  • Posterior Lateral Femoral Condyle (Lateral Head)
23
Q

What is the Insertion of the Gastrocnemius?

A

24
Q

What does the gastrocnemius do?

A
  • Plantar Flex ankle Joint
  • Flex Knee joint
25
What is the Anterior Cruciate Ligament responsible for?
- Preventing anterior movement of the tibia relative to the femurs position and medial rotation
26
What is the Posterior Cruciate Ligament responsible for?
- Preventing posterior movement of the tibia relative to the femurs position
27
What is the Medial Collateral Ligament responsible for?
- Preventing the knee from abducting
28
What is the lateral collateral ligament responsible for?
- Preventing the knee from adducting
29
How do menisci get injured?
- squatting, twisting, or direct contact
30
Where do the Vastus Intermedius, Medialis, and Lateralis Insert?
- Patella - Tibial Tuberosity through Patellar Tendon
31
List the Knee Flexors
Sartorius, Gracilis, Semitendinosus, Semimembranosus, Biceps Femoris, Popliteus, Gastrocnemius
32
List the Knee Extensors
Rectus Femoris, Vastus Lateralis, Vastus Medialis, Vastus Intermedius
33
List the Knee Internal Rotators
Sartorius, Gracilis, Semitendinosus, Semimembranosus, Popliteus
34
List the Knee External Rotators
Biceps Femoris
35
How does the popliteus help with knee flexion?
It unlocks an extended knee by performing internal rotation (med to lat) and flexion
36
Why is our MCL larger than our LCL?
- There are more compressive forces on the medial leg due to how we often stand. Gravity tries to force abduction.
